🇬🇧 After leaving the hospital, Aleksander loses his job and home and finds himself on the street. After seven years of wandering the streets of Paris, with alcohol as his only refuge, he found help from the Red Cross. At 48 years old, Aleksander now lives in an emergency shelter (CHU), in a commune next to the 16th arrondissement of the capital. Is he looking for work again? Aleksander answers with a head movement towards his walker. He is motorically handicapped and will not be able to work anymore. At least, that's what he thought before coming to La Bricole, a place open to the residents of the Cinq Toits and the general public.
Sitting on the seat of his walker, Aleksander handles the wood lathe with his rough hands. Hooded in his black vest, the handyman is concentrated on his manual work, to the rhythm of the machine's shrill noise. He does not even pay attention to Marie Fourcade, who has come to admire his dexterity. This embroiderer, who has a workshop on the Cinq Toits site, has ordered crochet sleeves from Luneville (the emblematic town where the embroidery technique comes from).

Après sept ans d’errance dans les allées parisiennes, avec pour seul refuge l’alcool, il trouve de l’aide auprès de la Croix-Rouge. À 48 ans, Aleksander vit désormais dans un centre d’hébergement d’urgence (CHU), dans une commune jouxtant le 16e arrondissement de la capitale. Est-ce qu’il cherche à nouveau du travail ? Aleksander répond d’un mouvement de tête en direction de son déambulateur. Il est handicapé moteur et ne pourra plus travailler. Enfin, c’est ce qu’il croyait avant de venir à La Bricole, ce lieu ouvert aux résidents des Cinq Toits et au grand public.
Installé sur l’assise de son déambulateur, Aleksander manie le tour à bois avec ses mains rugueuses. Encapuchonné dans son gilet noir, le bricoleur est concentré sur son travail manuel, au rythme du bruit strident de la machine. Il ne prête même pas attention à Marie Fourcade, venue admirer sa dextérité. Cette brodeuse, qui possède un atelier sur le site des Cinq Toits, lui a commandé des manches de crochet de Luneville (commune emblématique d’où vient la technique de broderie).
